I got permission to have it painted in the middle of the mall. Candy was not pleased at first, knowing she was going to be on display while having her portrait done. Of course I didn't tell her it may take 4 to 5 days. She got over it. My wife and I are very glad we have that portrait today. It was built in a farmers field, in a rural area between Battle Creek, Mi. and Kalamazoo, Mi. during World War I, under the camouflaged tent protected by the military. It made its maiden flight in Oct. 1918, in Pensacola, Fl., with President Wilson in attendance. The plane was the Curtiss N-9, of which 3 are known to exist today. Two are in the possession of the Smithsonian. The first, completely restored and on display at the Naval Air Museum in Pensacola, FL. All because of our illustrious "Leader" of our nation, and his tenacious character in doing no less than what he asked of those who he directed in government service. In the second color choice, on the left side, the Cinnabar and Red Bear, we can refer to that infamous Bear who is always in trouble when considering "Honey". Now, the third color choice, on the right, the White and Black Bear, was my favorite when growing up. The "Panda" Bear was made famous by the character "Andy Panda", a cartoon character drawn by cartoonist, Walter Lance. Other characters,such as "Wally Walrus", can be seen by looking at W-1210.
